Ed, Yes, Oil owns the Congress. It is time to replace most "OLD CONGRESS LEADERS", THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. WE KNOW THAT BY NOW, THEY DO VERY LITTLE FOR US AMERICANS. We need to replace our"BAD
DEMOCRATS?. THEY HAVE SOLD THEIR SOULS TO THE
BUSINESS". YOU, THE REPUBLICANS PEOPLE, WHY DONT
YOU REPLACE YOUR OLD BAD REPUBLICANS WITH GOOD
NEW REPUBLICANS. THE ONE YOU HAVE ARE THE "PARTY OF NO". THEY DO NOTHING FOR YOU ! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES. A DEMO.

No, Ed, Oil does not own the Congress. I don't care if oil companies or insurance companies or vehicle companies or whatever companies do it, greed owns the congresspersons, the same congresspersons we have created. When a candidate runs for office in a particular district, we need to exercise the same due diligence level we exercise in financial transactions and discover what these people really stand for. Age or time in Congress means very little if the congressperson does her/his best for the district and the American people and refuse to take huge "contributions" or other "amenities" from entities that have interests counter to those in his/her district. This should alert everyone to the new "republican" (read this as, tea-party) candidates seeking office. Note the things they oppose that benefit the American majority, things you may want and they would deny you if you elect them. Let's not create new corrupt congresspersons by electing them. Finding an honest politician may be a Diogenic quest, but we need to try.

This does not mean that oil companies and their executives have an excuse for what they do; they do not. They notice the greed (they identify it as a "need") in a particular congressperson and feed that greed with contributions or paid trips or other perks. Congress and congresspersons should impart FAIRNESS to everyone as its first duty.
