Ed,
I live in South Carolina and I have a neighbor who is a mexican and a citizen of the US. He went in to a store to order dish network for his home and was told to go back to his country and was told get out of this store. This is racial profiling.

Thanks Ed for speaking on the unemployment. I am a father of three and lost my job due to down sizing. I have been trying since day one to find something to support my family, not even support really, just to get by until this all changes. I am now seven months unemployed and in danger of losing my vehicles and house, destroying my credit and defaulting on my student loans. I lost benefits in June and nothing is changing. It is a beautiful thing to hear someone who has sway and a media voice to call the government out for this atrocity to our every day working man. They helped put us here and are doing very little it seems to pull us out.

Applied for a job at a retial clothing store called AMERICAN EAGLE (Read the name of this company again) Under the Requirement of this job description it stated MUST BE BI-Lingual. I guess It should be called International Eagle.

I still applied, but heard nothing...I do not speak spanish however, so I guess I didn't meet the requirements.

Your Right Ed i said it before how come Oprah does not do a show about the unemployed ? She does everything else but not about the unemployed and the 99er , i emailed her show and no response , i really think the white house officials notified her to get her mouth shut , all the senate is are a bunch of ego seeking fakes , they love your votes to feed their ego when it comes time to help out the American people they turn their backs , bunch of fake people making $150,000 a year that we pay for or did when we were working, i paid in since i was 16 now i'm 48 and yes i got 99 weeks because there are NO JOBS , I know they will pass the bill for these other unemployed and they will get the 99 weeks but what happens when that runs out when everybody becomes a 99er , THIRD WORLD COMING !!!!!!

Thank you for not letting the subject relating to the republican party's blocking of unemployment die. I have been unemployed for approximately two years, however, I have tried as hard as I possibly could to get back to work. I have used my 26 weeks employer paid unemployment and 13 weeks of the Extended benefits in total over the last 2 years. While unemployed I accepted any work available, temporary positions, transcription from home, etc. While I tried, pay was lower and my last 13 weeks unemployment were based on that lowered income from trying, and now completely stopped due to the Republican party's actions. I am hurt in the reasoning of the media as to why they feel Americans should not be informed of what is happening. I am hurt 15 million people are of no concern to the Republican party. I paid taxes for 34 of my 48 years, paid republican wages, to be kicked to the curb in return. I cannot comprehend having trust or faith in our government at all in the future. I never thought I would ever see a situation like this in America, and I am dumbfounded the unemployed have not been able to ban together and force the subject upon the media by sit ins, etc. I think many are in shock and have given up as I.

Thank you, Sir, for speaking on behalf of the many long-term unemployed. Many of us have been tirelessly seeking employment to no avail and it's of great importance that someone like yourself stand up and speak for us.

That has to be the most stupid comments I have heard in a while... MSNBC, FOX, CNN all the rest just unbelievable... let's not forget to mention the DNC, Harry Reid attempted to put a halt to this Tax Loophole that sent these jobs overseas, and the GOP has blocked it simply by blocking the Unemployment Extensions at the same time... Sounds like propaganda line to me... and this Third World Business because of the unemployed? The writing was on the wall when Bush started a pre-emptive war in Iraq based on a total lie then, gave away the country to the rich when a plethora of Tax Cuts... Ed, go off and join the TEA Party, you sound like Sarah Palin

Ed,

Thank you, thank you, thank you - the exhaustees (a/k/a 99ers) and ALL unemployed need the true story to be heard by the public. You are doing that for us and I commend your efforts. Our Government has dropped the ball and needs to pick it up and get running to provde us with additional weeks or months of benefits that are so desperately needed. People are losing their homes - one by one we are drowning and the Gov. doesn't care about us.

Why won't you commenters here blame the people that took away your jobs???!!! Not Obama, he had nothing to do with it! Not the government, not the DNC, not Harry Reid, not Nancy Pelosi, not Oprah, not the Mexicans, not MSNBC, not CNN, not even Ed Schultz!!! Dammitttt!!!!! Look! Look at this straight on! Businessmen trying to make a bigger profit by paying fewer wages or getting better tax breaks, using newer technology or processes and getting better regulatory relief TOOK AWAY YOUR JOBS!!!! … and realize this!!! If they could take it away, it wasn't yours to begin with. It was THE JOB THEY WANTED YOU TO DO FOR THEM!!!!! Were you one of the company owners that decided to move the business somewhere else or shut it down? No! It's more likely you were a shmuck working on the factory floor or doing some other support function to help make these people rich! Here's the answer - only work under contract and get part of the profits!!! It's called SMALL BUSINESS!!!

Obama and the Democrats are trying to get you unemployment extension. Like a few others here have done, blame the republicans, sarah palin, tea partiers, etc. for blocking the doggone extension!!!

Ed, you said you're not running. I think you should run for political office. You would be elected in a New York minute!!!!!

By the way Ed, WELCOME BACK!!

Ed,

Thank you for your continued efforts in helping the unemployed, especially the 99ers in seeking a Tier 5 extension. I'm one of those 99ers. I'm 54 years old and worked my entire life from the age of 17 until 3 years ago when I was laid off after 25 years with one company. I am married with 2 teenage children. My unemployment benefits ended in late March, 2010. I am now depleting my savings and still continue looking for work. I've tried for all kinds of jobs and most find that I"m overqualified. I am desperate for my family's future.
Please don't give up on this fight for us!
THANK YOU!

I just wanted to say thanks for all your coverage of the 99ers because we have truely been stabbed in the back and cold shoulders turned to us. I hope you keep up the good work and keep grilling them on this highly important issue. I have paid into that unemployment insurance fund for over 35 years and I don't want a hand out, I just want what I paid in. I to think Harry Reid needs to step up and stop running scared and do the right thing. Again thank you so much for your help, at least now we know we are not forgotten.

i voted once in my life i'm 35 and voted obama.i exhausted 99wks of unemployment without medicad or foodstamps.i was told no to join our miltary.i answered obamas call and went back to school.i'm currently suspeded through finacial aid because due to the loss of unemployment through no fault of my own i became homeless was unable to complete that semester. now me,my wife,my 7 children and sick elderly mom that i have power of attorney over now suffer inhumanely. all this could have been avoided by a president and a congress that have systematicly used poverty as a form of population control and have hid this from the general amercian public.thank you congress for being asleep at the wheel and running over me.

if you can help get my story out there to america or the president please help me call me at my father's house at 1-812-849-6902. he has a house because he is disabled. but me and my family set on foodstamps and medicaid being fed and kept medically alive to inhumanely suffer. please understand i did everything i could to find work but in a county and state where houses set empty and business's close and none reopen there are no jobs. regardless of anyones figures or govt. saying we are rebounding. this is a depression and i'm not mentally ill but my patriotism, family, personal beliefs and god keep me from sucide. but how many are not as strong as me out there i wonder...i prey obama wakes up and speaks for the 99ers now before my kids freeze this winter.
